In 2000, the Nantucket Public Schools was facing a crisis with their staff. Employees were not able to find housing that would mesh with the needs of their salaries. A task force was assembled, land was located, and designs were created for the project. Out of this process came the Cow Pond Lane Apartments. These twelve units of housing is a mix of one, two and three bedroom units that are available to education staff as well as Town and hospital employees.
Nantucket Education Trust rental housing is designated interim housing, reserved for teachers, administrators, and staff of the Nantucket Public School district. Should all housing requests be satisfied for Nantucket Public Schools employees, NET accepts housing applications from employees of Nantucket Cottage Hospital and the Town of Nantucket. Lease agreements for any tenant are for one year and their respective terms are reviewed periodically.
Cow Pond Lane Apartments accepts applications once yearly (generally in April or May). You can find NET Housing Application here.
